I was able to make it to 12:45 p.m. before the humidity woke me up. I put my shirt back on and went out to the living room to chat with Sammy for a bit. I got myself a cold bottle of water and went back to my room to start the reformat of my computer. I also booted up Oblivion so I could play some more while the computer did its thang.
When I got Windows XP installed again, I attempted to get the computer back online so I could download the drivers I needed. I found the disc for the wireless card, and I installed the program. I got the internet back and I downloaded the drivers, but when I restarted the computer, it didn’t recognize the wireless card drivers, so I had to reinstall it again. This happened the next few times I restarted…by the 4th time, I was fucking irritated.
I quickly checked my email and I found an email from Dan M. about a special screening of PINEAPPLE EXPRESS tonight at a theater downtown. I called Geoff (who was still awake from last night) and Marky and got them both on board for the movie. Marky said he’d come by and pick me up at 5:30 p.m.
I got some programs installed before Marky showed up a few hours later. We jumped in his car and raced over to Geoff’s. We made him drive because he wasn’t ready at the agreed time (that and neither of us wanted to waste our own gas). Geoff called his roommate Reno, who was already downtown, and had him get in line to hold us a place.
We decided to park up at Jeff A.’s place and walk the few blocks to the theater. Because of our late start, and the line that Reno said was forming, we ran as fast as we could down there. I normally like to obey traffic laws, but I was in a hurry…so fuck it. I was j-walking left and right and not caring.
We met Reno in front of the theater and he was right at the beginning of the line. The line went inside and we had to stop at a security check point to hand over any electronic devices we had in our pockets. Marky, Geoff and I all had our DS’s in our pocket, so we had to leave those with the large suited men. Right after that we got inside and got seated in some pretty good seats. We talked amongst ourselves until the flick started at 7 p.m.
I had been waiting for PINEAPPLE EXPRESS ever since I saw the trailer, and holy-fucking-shit, it was awesome! I am a big fan of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg as a writing team, and I really love the stories they come up with as well as the dialog that comes out of their characters mouths. While I didn’t think the movie was as good as SUPERBAD (because I could relate to that one since I don’t smoke pot), it was almost on par.
After the movie we got our electronics back and wandered down to Subway to get some dinner. On the walk there, I checked my voicemail and it looks like I had missed a call from Lauren about our date….fuck. She was at home and waiting by the phone for me to call her. I thought I had her number in my phone, so I deleted the message before I wrote down her home number. When I went to go call her back, I found that I didn’t have her number. Once again, I face-palmed myself.
We got our food, ate, and then Reno wanted to show us a cool park downtown so we followed him. On our journey we found a little modernist park with one working swing set, and these…mini-merry-go-rounds. These were poles that were attached to some well oiled ball bearings. When I stood on it, it started to spin faster and faster. This was amplified when Marky and Geoff kept spinning me. I’m not a huge fan of going extremely fast, so I didn’t last too long on there. However, I got my revenge on Geoff by spinning him REALLY fast. It was fun.
We finally made it to the little park and walked through it. It was pretty peaceful, and seemed like a good place to go and think.
Eventually we made our way back to Geoff’s car and he drove us back to his house. We chatted for a bit about car insurance polices and how Hawaiian’s apparently buy a new car every weekend. Marky and I decided to take off, and on the drive back we decided to meet up on GTA 4 for some carnage.
Marky dropped me off, then he went home. I was waiting for him in the game when he joined about a half hour later. We played for a couple hours, and then my internet connection went down again. I couldn’t get it restarted, so I called it a night, and went to bed.
