I need a fucking air conditioner in my room…preferably before I sweat my fat ass to death from all the humidity. I got out of bed a little after noon and stumbled across my room to the computer. I knew I had a meeting to get to later on tonight, so I wanted to waste as much time as possible. I loaded up Oblivion and spent the whole afternoon playing that. Hell, I don’t think I even ate anything.
During my gaming session I was also searching around online for some updates for a program I use to encode video files, and while I wasn’t paying attention, I clicked on a download and BAM! I got a fucking computer virus. I face-palmed myself and then tried to figure out how to get rid of the virus.
This little program was tricky, it burrows itself in the windows files and “installs” an anti-virus program. The program then “scans” the hard drive and tells you that you have 1500 + viruses on the computer, and that it can fix it…if you purchase a specific anti-virus program. I googled the program name and found a ton of articles on how it works, and how to get rid of it. A lot of the people who got rid of it still had performance problems, and since I need my computer to perform well while editing video files, I decided that reformatting would be the way to go. Mom had already gotten home, so I moved the reformatting plan to tomorrow, used the laptop to conquer it, took a shower, got dressed and headed to the studio.
Ace wasn’t at the studio when I got there, so I headed upstairs and set up the laptop. I was going to use the time before the meeting to update the blog, but Geoff showed up a minute later and killed that plan. Jeff G. also showed up, and Ace returned not long after that. We spent a while discussing the upcoming 48HFP as well as who would direct. I had the option to take that job, but I figured that I would best serve as a writer/executive producer on the project. Geoff and Jeff decided to act as co-directors and handle the project that way. Ace warned them of going down that path, but I assured him that I would be that deciding factor if they came to an impass. Richard U. showed up a little bit later and we discussed his job as editor. He would have to start working on Sunday morning to do the edit as he had a wedding he was shooting Saturday night.
Marky came over right as we were finishing the meeting. Ace was hungry so we all piled in his SUV and headed over to Santana’s to get some California Burritos. Back at the studio we ate and watched some short films that came out of the SDSU Film Department. For the most part the shorts were good, but like a lot of people’s work (especially my own) it could always use some tightening.
After we ate Marky popped in a flick he picked up at Comic-Con called CHOCOLATE. It was the story of an autistic girl who learns kung-fu and beats up the people who owe her mom money…including the Yakuza. At first the movie sucked because the subtitles were horrid. They were all in broken English, and even when the actors spoke in English (which happened every so often) the subtitles didn’t match up at all. We were getting pretty annoyed with this, but eventually figured out that there was another subtitle track that was the right one.
The movie ended and we realized that it was just after 5 a.m. The three of us decided to call it a night and we all went home to pass out. When I got home I took off my shirt, dropped my shorts to the floor and passed out.
