I had reset the alarm to wake me up at 11:45 a.m. so I could have a little chill time before meeting Ace at the studio at 12:30. I got up and tooled around the house for a few, taking the time to check my email and chat with Bill about when he was leaving to go back to Utah. Ace called me a minute later and said that he had to stay with his daughter today, so he wouldn't be able to make it to the studio until when I had to be at work. We chatted about the brief and he said he would email me what he put together in a few minutes.

I got the email and gave it the once over. Ace was able to tighten up some of the things I said (he's really good at that), as well as put a nice amount of polish on the overall presentation of the brief. Aaron K. emailed us both a few minutes later and asked if we could add in one cast member who I had left out of the brief. Ace asked me to send him the character description, and I IM'ed it over to him. He updated the GOMS! brief and sent it back to us. I signed off on it, and then I went to the kitchen looking for grub.

Bill told me that Mom's car was pretty much toast (blown head gasket apparently), so I had to go pick up the kids from school today. I didn't mind it, as I wanted to get out and go for a little drive to enjoy the day. I ate some leftover soup from last night, and went off on the epic journey to retrieve Sam and Joe from school...which just ended up being a 10 minute drive to the school and back...

When I got home Bill asked me if he could borrow one of my portable dvd players for his trip. I said ok, and pulled out my 10'' portable screen (complete with built in dvd player, FM transmitter, RF hookup, A/V in and out...really bad ass set up). I found a 12-volt plug in for it, and turned it on. It didn't work. I messed around with it for a few minutes, but I couldn't get it to work. So I grabbed my 7'' portable dvd player. I gave Bill all the stuff for it, and he went through my collection of dvd's and pulled out what he wanted for the trip. Although I did give it a once over and got to select which ones I didn't want him taking...although he didn't grab anything that I couldn't go a month without (he didn't touch my STAR WARS or INDIANA JONES trilogies...those are the only ones I couldn't go a month without...not that I couldn't go a month without watching them, but its always a good safeguard to have around...you know...just in case).

I took finally trimmed my beard and shaved for the first time in almost a week. I ran out of shaving cream and since Joe and Bill use an electric razor there wasn't any spare in the house. Nor was there any bars of soap in the bathroom, but we did have a bottle of moisturizing liquid hand soap. I squirted some of it in my hands and applied it to my face. I think I'm going to start using this stuff more often, it left me with a nice clean save with no razor burn or cuts...baby smooth. I took a quick shower and got dressed for work. I made sure to hit up 7-11 before going to the drive-in.

I was expecting a large turnout for SPEED RACER at work, and I wasn't wrong. The line was pretty long when I got there, and after I got clocked in, we got ready and opened up. Del's son Mikey started working in the snack bar, so I helped get him acquainted with everyone before I headed out to the parking lot to move some cars.

Everything was going fine until the owner showed up. When I first saw him, he was over in the corner talking with Ray, and then he came over to me. He told me that he wanted both Ray and Dawn on the side gate watching for side switchers, and the reason why Ray was there was so that Dawn wouldn't be hassled by the customers (she claimed this last weekend). I told him that we should just switch Ray and Dawn's position, and put Dawn on the back gate, or in the snack bar, because we don't need 2 people on a job that a monkey could easily do. Well...he didn't like me talking back to him, especially in front of Ray and Will, so he looked at me and said "Are you done? Are you going to back down, or do you want to go home?"

This is where I had to take a second to think about my next words. I wanted NOTHING more than to tell him off and take my chances...although I knew it would lead to me being fired. The funny thing is, I actually had to think about what to say next. Usually, most people would just immediately back down to the threat and go about their business. But I took at least 5-7 seconds to think about my answer... Suffice to say, I still have a job, so I didn't go the extra mile and get fired. I told the owner that he was right, and we went back to talking about the job. He walked back over a few minutes later (without Ray and Will around) and we talked again about the whole thing. I told him exactly how I felt and what should be done, he still didn't agree, and I didn't expect him to. He tried to counter the argument by bringing up an old employee we called "Pirate Bob", and how he was a screw up and that we sent him backup when he needed it. I responded by saying that I never did that, because I would just move Pirate Bob to a place where he couldn't cause any trouble. I hate pandering to stupid people because you feel you have to. But at the same time, I should really learn to hold my tongue.

Right before my boss started up the movies, he yelled out for me to watch the trailers. I stood next to a car with a loud stereo and watched. The first trailer was a new (but only slightly different) INDY 4 trailer, the two trailers in the middle were forgettable, but the attached trailer....STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS Animated movie/series. I would have bet on the attached trailer being a teaser for the new HARRY POTTER movie, but this is just as good. I had already seen this trailer online, but there is nothing like seeing it on the big screen.

Things calmed down after that, and nothing else really happened until the intermission. Brian called me upstairs to ask if I could also hear the grinding noise the projector on side 1 was making. I didn't even have to lean in to hear anything, it was a loud enough grind that anyone could hear. He called the owner, and I went down stairs to jump start a battery.

A little while later, I started getting really hungry, so I left to get gas and head down to Carl's Jr. for food. Eddie and Will asked me to get them some grub as well, so I took their money and left. While I was driving I shot Thug Tina a call and we chatted for a bit while I got gas and ordered my food. I told her about the features I've been writing, and the TV pilot, and how my life is looking to change for the better. Our conversation gets cut short when Brian informs me that we aren't showing SPEED RACER a second time because of the problem with the projector. Lucky for us, there wasn't much of a turnout for SPEED RACER. So there were only a few cars left to watch the second showing.

We closed up the box office, and the rest of us went to go clean the theater up. Will, Del and Eddie cleaned the lot, and I emptied the trash cans around the building. Bob, I and Annette had a discussion about the hierarchy in the chain of the command of the theater and how its all out of whack right now. Her and I got into an argument about how she thinks that everyone is always out to get her, and I tried to play it down...mostly.

Ace text messaged me and said he is at the studio still if I want to come by and check out the current cut of GOMS! I hauled ass to finish up at work, and bailed out by 3:15 a.m. so I could get down there quickly to see the mini-pilot. I got the studio as Ace was doing some audio sweetening on one of the scenes. He finished that up and showed me the current 3 minute cut. I have to say that even though a lot of the jokes were cut out, it came together really nicely and is still very funny. It's always great to see your words come out of good actor's mouths and be portrayed in a way that doesn't suck. This was one of those times.

Ace and I worked on color correction next, and got the cut finished up around 6 a.m. Where we said our goodbyes and went to our homes to sleep. I drove home, and passed the hell out as soon as I could.
