I woke up at 12:30 p.m., and heard some noise coming from the living room, so I went out to see what it was. Mom was home, and when I asked her why she wasn’t at work, she told me that it was because her car broke down on the freeway, and she had to get it towed back. We chatted for a few before I decided to get dressed. I told her I would pick up Sammy and Joe from school, and she could use my car if need be.
I ran over to get the kids at 1:45, and brought them home. Sam had to get some supplies for a school project so her and Mom took my car to Wal-Mart while Joe hung out and played Mario Kart.
I jumped back on GTA, and got fixated on completing a set of missions by one character in the game, only so I could get my hands on his ability to purchase weapons from the trunk of a car. I did this until 6 p.m. when Mom brought over a Carne Asada for me to mack on before going to work. Barb called me to remind me that she was coming down and that she was bringing pizza, and since I had just eaten, I was like….”oh fuck!”
Seeing as today was the opening day of IRON MAN, as well as marking the opening day of the summer movie season. I knew we would be busy at work, and that I had to get there at a decent time. Joe came with me because he was going to hang out with
The line was pretty long, and almost immediately after I got there, we went to open up. But the problem was, we had no employees to run everything.
Barb and Kevin were already in their usual parking spot, so I went over and chatted with them for a few about the movie and other stuff. I kept an eye on the lot to see if any problems were in need of my attention, but luckily it was relatively smooth sailing for the opening of the movie, and then it was chill time.
During the first movie there was a call for a jumpstart, and Will went to go take care of it. He has a tendency of being clumsy at times, and he bonked his head pretty hard on the hood of a car. The owner had showed up (again….) and told him to go lay down to relax. Not a few minutes later, the owner told me to put Will on back gate duty, so he could watch for anyone trying to sneak in, and relax from his bump. I go get Will and send him over to the back gate right before the intermission for
I talked with Barb and Kevin for a bit during the intermission, while keeping my phone handy incase a jumpstart or anything else was needed. Everything was going as it should, when I happened to notice a reflective vest wandering through the sea of cars. I took a closer look and saw that it was Ray, one of my new employees, scavenging for cans out on the lot. I went over and put a stop to it, he can’t be picking up beer and soda cans when there is work to be doing. Not to mention that
Before Barb and Kevin leave for the night, I was telling them about Christine and how meeting up with her is harder than a fucking calculus test. Ironically enough, Christine text messaged me while I was talking about her. I say my goodbyes to B & K, and pull out my cell to call Christine back. We end up talking for 45 minutes, and have a good conversation about many different things. I tell her about my rocky friendship with Marky, and she tells me about her discombobulated friendship with her best friend Danielle. We talk about relationships, and why we aren’t in one. She asks me what my sign is, and I tell her it’s and Aries. She tells me that she is a scorpio, and then we talk about how I don’t believe in astrological signs, but that in this specific case….I’m a water that likes to play with fire. She laughs, and I kind of lay it on a little thick, but I think this girl is cool, and its fun to flirt. She starts to yawn, so we wrap up the convo and make an agreement to try and meet up sometime soon. I hang up the phone, and quickly run Joe home.
I get back to work right as IRON MAN is starting again, I watch the previews, then catch the opening of the movie with Bob. My phone rings and tells me that I have a text message, I check and see that its from Marky. He has the money he owes me and wants to drop it off, I tell him ok, and I wait for his arrival.
I haven’t seen this guy in just about 4 months. We’ve been on the outs for a while, and it was a relatively mutual thing. But 20 minutes later, he was standing in front of me and we were talking. We were both trying to avoid the subject, but I noticed that he was chain smoking like crazy. He finally blurts out “I want my friend back!”, and I tell him that I don’t know if I’ll be able to do that. We finally get all the shit we wanted to say off of our chests, and it wasn’t as bad as we thought it was. But still, its hard to go back to being buddy buddy when you spend so much time being apart and being angry at the other person. We talk for a while about nerdy shit and he says that he got his Comic-Con registration. I told him that I hooked him up, because I know how much he loves to go. And even though I may be pissed off at him, I’m not going to deny him access to the 1 thing a year that makes him really happy.
We talk for a little bit more, and then he has to leave for work. I tell him to call me and we’ll go hang out, but we’ll play it by ear. He agrees and he leaves. After he takes off, I pull out my phone, call Geoff, and just leave the message….”Look’s like the band’s getting back together.”
The movie didn’t have a lot left to it, so I haul ass to get my trashcans and bathroom cleaned. I hang out and chat with Bob about the movie, politics, and how it is actually a really crappy time to be a middle class American right now, then I close up shop, and head home to pass out at 5 a.m.
